Haridas Ramchandra Vhatkar is a third generation tabla maker and currently make tablas at his workshop in Mumbai, India. He is one of the finest tabla maker who manufactures tabla sets following the excellent footsteps of his father Kerrapa Ramchandra Vhatkar and Ramchandra Kerrapa Vhatkar. Currently he is considered the number one tabla maker of India by most of the tabla maestros.
At an early age of his life, he was passionate about learning and innovation and started manufacturing tabla sets. After sometime with the wider knowledge, experimentation and research, he moved to Mumbai in 1994, with an aim to manufacture the tabla sets for India's finest tabla player, Ustad Zakir Hussain.
In his early days of Mumbai, he worked for Haribhau Vishawnath Musicals. Soon he impressed all the tabla players with his amazing craftsmanship and innovation about the tabla set. He was then recommended to Abbaji by Sh. Yogesh Samsi. Abbaji showed his tabla sets to Tabla Maestro Zakir Hussain. And this way his dreams were fulfilled. Since then, he has always received Ustad Zakir Hussain's blessings and immensely valuable guidance, intricate thoughts and valued tips about all aspects of the instrument. Ustadji also recommended Haridas's work to many stalwarts who appreciated his work. He manufactures tabla sets for Pandit Kishan Maharaj, Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Ustad Shafaat Ahmed Khan, Pandit Divyang Vakil, Pandit Nayan Ghosh.
